BlockDAG
BlockDAG x Zelf Integration Grant Proposal
Executive Summary
Zelf proposes to integrate our revolutionary biometric wallet recovery system and decentralized name service with the BlockDAG ecosystem. Our unique technology uses Zero-Knowledge face proofs (ZK Face Proof) to encrypt seed phrases without storing biometric data anywhere, enabling completely offline wallet recovery that works without internet connectivity.
This integration will provide BlockDAG users with:
- Human-readable domain names (e.g.,
john.blockdag) - Biometric wallet recovery without traditional seed phrase storage
- Offline-first architecture that works without internet
- Enhanced security through zero-knowledge cryptography
- Seamless user experience eliminating common Web3 barriers
Funding Request: $50,000 USD
Problem Statement
Current blockchain ecosystems face critical user adoption barriers:
- Complex wallet management requiring users to safely store 12-24 word seed phrases
- Poor user experience with long, unmemorable wallet addresses
- Single points of failure when users lose seed phrases or hardware wallets
- Dependency on internet connectivity for most recovery solutions
- Privacy concerns with biometric data storage in centralized systems
These issues prevent mainstream adoption and create significant security risks for users.
Our Solution: Zelf's Biometric Recovery & Name Service
Core Technology: ZK Face Proof
Our proprietary Zero-Knowledge Face Proof technology:
- Encrypts seed phrases using facial biometrics + optional password
- Never stores biometric data - everything happens locally
- Creates mathematical proofs that can verify identity without revealing it
- Works completely offline - no internet required for recovery
Zelf Name Service (ZNS)
Our decentralized naming system provides:
- Human-readable names linked to crypto addresses
- Works Multi-blockchain (BlockDAG, ETH, BTC, SOL, SUI, etc.)
- Distributed storage via IPFS, Arweave, Walrus
- Can be stored also as an NFT since the ZK-Face Proof is stored as a QR Code that weights less than 100kb.
- Comprehensive API for integration (if the integration is done for a Node instance > which is an online version where the algorithm computations happen there in case you want to use it in an wallet extension)
Three Integration Approaches
Approach 1: Biometric Wallet Recovery + BlockDAG Name Service
Technical Implementation
Core Features:
- Implement
john.blockdagnaming convention - Generate BlockDAG-compatible wallet addresses
- Integrate with BlockDAG's native token economics
- Provide API endpoints for name resolution
API Integration Points:
// Search for available names
POST /blockdag-name-service/search
{
"name": "john.blockdag",
"duration": "1" // years
}
// Register name with biometric recovery
POST /blockdag-name-service/lease-offline
{
"name": "john.blockdag",
"zelfProof": "encrypted_biometric_proof",
"blockdagAddress": "bdag1234...5678"
}
// Recover wallet using biometrics
POST /blockdag-name-service/decrypt
{
"name": "john.blockdag",
"faceBase64": "user_face_image",
"password": "optional_password"
}
Offline Workflow:
- User takes selfie + chooses name
- System generates BlockDAG wallet locally
- Creates encrypted ZK Face Proof containing seed phrase
- Stores encrypted proof on IPFS with name metadata
- User can recover anytime using face scan (offline)
Value Proposition:
- $12-240 per name registration revenue for BlockDAG ecosystem
- Eliminate seed phrase storage - users only need their face
- Works offline - perfect for areas with poor connectivity
- Instant wallet recovery in under a minute > ZelfProof + (Biometrics + Optional password) = seed phrase.
Approach 2: Biometric 2FA Authentication
Technical Implementation
Enhanced Security Layer:
- Add biometric authentication to BlockDAG transactions
- Provide SDK for dApps to integrate biometric verification
- Create seamless 2FA without hardware dependencies
Integration Features:
// Authenticate transaction with biometrics
POST /blockdag-auth/verify-transaction
{
"transaction": "0x123...",
"faceBase64": "user_face_image",
"zelfProof": "stored_biometric_proof"
}
// Setup biometric 2FA for BlockDAG address
POST /blockdag-auth/setup-2fa
{
"blockdagAddress": "bdag1234...5678",
"faceBase64": "user_face_image",
"authLevel": "REGULAR" // or HARDENED
}
Security Benefits:
- Prevent unauthorized transactions even with compromised private keys
- Phishing protection - attackers can't replicate user's face and we have a 2D liveness detection integrated that is extremely good.
- Compliance ready for institutional adoption and users worrying about privacy.
- No additional hardware required (uses phone camera) and it doesn't depend on iOS nor Android, it's OS agnostic and device agnostic.
Approach 3: Decentralized Identity (DID) System
Technical Implementation
Comprehensive Identity Solution:
- Create verifiable digital identities on BlockDAG
- Link biometric proofs to on-chain identity records
- Enable reputation systems and cross-platform verification
DID Features:
// Create decentralized identity
POST /blockdag-did/create-identity
{
"name": "john.blockdag",
"faceBase64": "user_face_image",
"attributes": {
"email": "john@example.com",
"verified": true
}
}
// Verify identity claims
POST /blockdag-did/verify-claim
{
"did": "did:blockdag:john",
"claim": "identity_verification",
"proof": "biometric_signature"
}
Use Cases:
- KYC/AML compliance for DeFi protocols
- Social verification for DAOs and communities
- Cross-chain identity portability
- Reputation systems for marketplaces

Zelf Technical Architecture: Online vs Offline Systems
Overview
Zelf's biometric recovery system operates in two distinct architectural modes, each optimized for different use cases and security requirements:
- Online Architecture - Full backend integration with all operations processed through Zelf servers or in-house servers. The biometric data goes to the node instance encrypted with PGP.
- Offline Architecture - Local biometric processing with minimal backend interaction for storage authorization. The biometric data never leaves the device.
Both architectures maintain the core principle: biometric data never gets stored.
